HOLY LIGHT LIBRARY POLICIES

1. Library Hours:
(1).Monday–Friday: 8:00a.m.-21:00p.m. (The circulation desk hours: 8:00a.m.-12:00 p.m., 1:30p.m.-20:45 p.m.)
(2).Saturday, Sunday, and holidays: closed
(3).Winter and summer breaks: 8:30 a.m.-20:00 p.m. (The circulation desk hours: 8:30a.m.-12p.m., 13:30p.m.-19:45p.m.)
(4).The above times can be subjected to change if there is a need.
2. Instructions for applying for a library card:
(1).To apply for a library card, one must be at least 12 years old, a baptized believer, and have no mental disabilities.
(2).When applying for a library card, you can either download the form off the Holy Light library internet site or obtain an application form directly from the library front desk.
(3). When filling out the form, the individual’s application must have a signature of approval from the pastor of his/her church, have a stamp of his/her church on the application, and be formally approved of by the library. After the form is filled out, bring the application form to the library along with a one-inch photograph of yourself and an annual fee of NT$300.00. After one year, the card will expire unless it is renewed. A fee of NT$100.00 will be charged to replace a lost card.
(4). Only Holy Light full-time faculty and their family (only direct family members), staff and their family (only direct family members), part-time faculty, and full-time students are exempted from paying the fees for processing and renewal.
(5).Because of our limited library space, we are unable to allow students preparing to take exams for secular schools to use the library for study.
3. Regulations for borrowing materials from the library
If materials are taken from the library in violation of these regulations, a fine will be charged: NT$1000 for materials valued up to $NT1000; three times the value of the materials if it is more that NT$1000.

(1).General patrons may borrow up to 5 books for 14 days; local D. Min. students and unofficial D. Min. students may borrow up to 10 books for 60 days, overseas D. Min. students may borrow up to 10 books for 90 days. Full-time students, unofficial students and exchange students may borrow up to 10 books for 14 days. If unofficial students and exchange students discontinue to attend classes, they do not have privilege to use the library.
(2).Renewal can be done only if no one has reserved the book. Full-time students, unofficial students and exchange students can renew for 14 days. General patrons can renew only one time for 7 days. This procedure can be done either on-line or in person.
(3).Full-time faculty may borrow up to 40 books for class preparation for 120 days. Part-time faculty may borrow up to 20 books for class preparation for 60 days per book.
(4).Teachers and students may apply for an increase in the number of books or an extension of the loan period for research purpose.
(5).Each person must use only his/her own library card to borrow books.
(6).To borrow/return books, please bring them back to the circulation desk in the library to be checked in/out.
(7)The fine for keeping a book longer than the allowed period is NT$5.00 a day.
(8)The following books may not be taken from the library:
n Reference books (Those labeled with an "R")
n Reserve books
n Journals or current newspapers
n Computer CD’s, VCD’s, videotapes, special materials, etc.
(9)Full-time faculty, staff, and official students can utilize interlibrary loan oftheological seminaries in Taiwan.

4. Regulations for library users
(1).Only those who have library cards may enter the library and borrow books.
(2).After you have finished using books from the stacks, PLEASE place them on the Circulation desk and the library staff will put them back on the shelves.
(3).It is against the rules of the library to do the following:
n Turn up the corners of the books
n Deface the books (Underline, write in the margin, highlight, etc.)
n Tear the books
If any of the above situations happen or if a book is lost, the borrower must replace the book.
(4) When copying books/materials, make sure to follow the regulations of the publisher. Do not copy an entire book. If problems arise you are responsible.
(5) Library computers are used only for browsing for books/materials and for surfing the internet. It is not for personal use. If you are using your own computer, you may use it as you wish except for doing anything that disturbs others.
5. Maintenance and use of the library
(1).People entering the library must :
n Be dressed appropriately (no sandals).
n Children under 12 years of age may not enter the library.
n Anyone with a cell phone must turn it off or set it to vibration mode. No one is allowed to talk on the phone in the library.
n No food or drinks are allowed in the library (except water).
n A NT$500 fine will be charged for each violation.
(2).It must be quiet in the library at all times.
n Please do not talk in a loud voice.
n Please do not come into the library to visit with friends.
n Please do not walk around in the library and distract other students.
(3).Only the library staff is allowed to open/close windows and turn the air conditioner, laminating machine, and lights on/off. Please do not turn the library computers on/off or in any way or change the setting on them.
(4).Please do not scratch or write on the tables or deface them in
any way.
(5).When leaving the library:
n Please return your chair to its place at the table.
n Please put your trash in the wastebasket.
n Please take all personal items with you. We will not be responsible for any articles left in the library.
The Library Committee has established the above regulations. If there is a need for change, the Committee will take care of it.
